Fees & Expenses
Labor arbitration cases: $1,600 per day for hearing, travel, research, study, and writing. A hearing day is any portion of a day up to eight hours. Additional hours after the end of the eight hour block will be charged in quarter-day (2 hour) increments (e.g., $400 per additional increment). Charges for time spent on travel, research, study, and writing are prorated.
Employment arbitration cases: $350 per hour for all time spent on pre-hearing matters, hearings, study & preparation of awards. Four hour minimum for hearings held in Metropolitan Kansas City; eight hour minimum for hearings held elsewhere.
Mediation: $350 per hour for employment, ERISA, & civil rights mediations with a two hour minimum in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and a five hour minimum elsewhere. If I travel outside the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, I also charge for travel time at $175 per hour.
Expenses: Actual cost of reasonable expenses for travel and lodging. Expenses for meals & incidentals billed at the applicable per diem rate for federal employees.
Cancellation & Postponement: Fees may be charged for cancellation or postponement of a scheduled hearing date or mediation session.
All fees and expenses are split evenly between the parties unless otherwise agreed.
